A conversion-focused WordPress website for an Olympic-level sailing club — built and launched in four weeks
A performance sailing club in Limassol, Cyprus — led by an Olympic gold medallist — needed a website that matched their programme's credibility. We built a full multi-page WordPress site covering four audience segments, a dynamic events calendar, and a gallery, fully manageable by the club's own team from day one.
Four completely different audiences. One website. Four weeks to get it right.
Four audiences, one website
Kids academy, adult sport sailing, corporate yachting, and international training camps — all with different motivations, different questions, and different definitions of a good outcome. Each group had to feel like a primary consideration, not an afterthought.
Olympic credentials buried was Olympic credentials wasted
Being coached by an Olympic gold medallist is a significant differentiator — but only if it is communicated clearly and early. The most compelling thing the club had to say could not be hidden on an About page.
Non-technical staff managing everything after handover
Coaches and administrators — not developers — would be running the site day to day. Event calendars, schedule updates, new pages — all of it had to be manageable without calling an agency every time something changed.
Four weeks. Seasonal deadline. No room for slippage.
The club had a programme intake coming. The site needed to be live before it arrived. Extended revision cycles and scope creep were not options — everything had to be agreed fast and built right the first time.
Every visitor type finds what they need — and knows what to do next
Media-heavy and fast. Complex navigation that still feels simple.
A sailing club lives and dies by its photography. The site needed to carry a full gallery, hero imagery across multiple pages, and embedded media without becoming slow — particularly on mobile, where a significant portion of the audience browses. Lazy loading and optimised image delivery were built into the gallery architecture from the start, not added when load times became a problem. The result was a media-rich site that maintained performance across all core pages on both desktop and mobile.
Five distinct sections — each with their own sub-pages — needed to be organised into navigation that felt intuitive without becoming a dropdown maze. The events calendar required dynamic filtering by programme type and had to be fully updateable by non-technical staff through the WordPress backend with no developer involvement. Both problems were solved in the build rather than worked around — the club's team was managing the calendar and adding pages independently within the first week after handover, with no ongoing support required.
Four things the site does — built for a club with a serious programme
Dedicated pages for every audience
Kids academy, adult sport sailing, corporate yachting, and international training camps — each with their own section, their own tone, and their own conversion goal. No audience shares space with another or has to filter out irrelevant content to find what they need.
Dynamic, filterable, staff-managed
A sailing schedule covering regattas, training sessions, and club events — filterable by programme type, updateable through the WordPress backend by non-technical staff, and visible across both the kids and adult sections of the site.
Photography that does the selling
A full media gallery with optimised delivery and lazy loading — keeping page speed intact despite the volume of on-water imagery. Social channel integrations treated as functional elements, not decorative footer additions.
First-page rankings within one month
Structured on-page SEO built into every page during development — meta descriptions, schema markup, heading hierarchy, and keyword-optimised copy. The site ranked on the first page for sailing lessons in Limassol and sailing club Cyprus within the first month of launch.
Live in four weeks. First-page rankings in one month. International enquiries in three weeks.
